Pros

As a composer and performer who has been a music professional for almost five decades, I've bought and used many different music stands. This particular model is one of the best stands I've ever used. Both the materials (almost everything is metal with a good non-reflective painted finish) and the construction of the stand are excellent, but what I like best are the stand's design, versatility, strength, and price.

This stand is easy to assemble and can be adjusted to various heights and angles very easily. Most importantly to me, the stand can support quite a bit of weight. Sometimes I use it to hold my laptop computer, and I feel quite confident that the stand is able to support the computer without anything slipping or moving. I've also used the stand to support a heavy book.

Also, unlike most music stands, the Hamilton Orchestra Stand, Gripper, has a low-profile base that can slide under beds, tables, etc.--a very nice design feature! The price via Amazon was excellent.

Cons

There's very little that I can think of that is negative about this music stand. One thing is that it was delivered in a somewhat lightweight cardboard box that looked like it might not protect the stand very well in shipping (but my stand arrived in perfect condition, without a scratch).

Be sure to order the right model--there are many very similar stands that do not have all of the features of this product, some also made by Hamilton, and prices for these kinds of stands vary considerably (from ca. $20 to more than $100).
