5.8 GHz Wireless Audio Receiver, Model 400 Review
I have purchased two of these receivers together with a 5.8 GHz Multi-Channel Audio Transmitter, Model 400 to make my home theater wireless.I have a total of 7 speakers, the 2 rear and 2 side speakers are active speakers which I have connected to the receivers. A receiver will output 2 of the 4 channels which are streamed by the transmitter.
Be sure to pick the right type of wireless receiver though: If you have passive speakers then you will need to get a model 480 receiver for each speaker. This receiver has a stereo RCA out and connects to any active speakers or a subwoofer.
This product is very cost effective and also is fairly flexible since you can mix and match receivers. The transmitter base accepts speaker cable audio and also has two line inputs. It transmits 4 audio channels. The 4 channels are in perfect sync without any latency. I am somewhat of an audiophile and made sure that this unit sends uncompressed audio.
The wireless receivers have a channel switch located at the bottom that allows you to set each wireless receiver to one of the four wireless audio channels. If you only want to set up 2 speakers then you only need to get 2 wireless receivers and you leave 2 of the transmitter inputs unconnected.
The audio quality is excellent. It is as though the speakers are hardwired to my home theater receiver. No lag, no echo nor dropouts. I have been using this set for 2 weeks and thus far it works fine.
I like the fact that this unit works at 5.8 GHz and doesn't impact my wireless LAN whatsoever.
Note that the wireless receivers need power which means that you need a power outlet for each receiver but you get rid of unpleasant speaker wires lying around the room. This set has kept my livingroom free of annoying cable clutter.
