I had some old Technics mini speakers substituting as a center channel for my Polk Monitor 70's. They were doing ok considering I bought them in 1981 or so. Plus, I abused the hell out of those poor speakers. Once I put in the Polk CS2....What a difference. Getting speakers that are matched for performance was worth it. Polk makes a great product for the price range. I know there are people who will say there are better speakers, but I defy you to find a setup for the $1000-1500 range that can beat monitor 70's series II/PSW505/CS2 series II. I'm still well under $1000. Plenty of room in the budget for those Polk FXi A6's I want for my rear channel speakers.
