I've been a Shure cartridge fan for a great many years. I've been using a GemSound 1200 to record my entire LP collection onto my computer, and the M44 has served me very well. The turntable and this cartridge has successfully recorded about 1800 LPs over the last year and a half, and seems to handle anything I throw at it, warped or otherwise as long as the record is clean. I've played stuff ranging from records that were well cared for to those that were not, and unless there was severe groove damage, played flawlessly. I know there are a great many cartridges that are technically superior, but this one is affordable and has served me very well.
