EMINENCE LAB12 12-Inch Professional Series Speakers Review

This subwoofer is the swiss-army knife of all subwoofers. It is usable in nearly all of the Bill Fitzmaurice designs (subwoofers) worth building. I have two of these woofers but this particular one went into a T60 (a 25 Hz horn), a BIY (build it yourself) folded horn designed by Bill. It has more output than both of my 15 inch AV123 MFW 15's put together (probably 6 dB more) and doesn't even blink (no audible distortion and hardly measurable) at full power. It will rattle your house to the ground before it breaks a sweat and the bass quality is unlike anything I've heard.

In other words here are the pros/cons
+ Versatile enough to fit in everything from a 45 Hz horn to a 22 Hz horn with excellent XMAX ratings
+ Runs out of mechanical excursion and thermal handling right at it's power rating so you don't have to "guess" if it is going to die on you, set a limiter and be happy.
+ Very hard to abuse this woofer, its XLIM is much more than it's XMAX (~18 mm vs 13 mm i think) and thus even if you accidentally over power it for short periods of time due to a power spike in the amp it is likely to survive (mind you if you operate it out of spec or don't properly limit/hipass, be prepared for it to fail just like any other subwoofer)
+ Stupid clean in a proper horn loaded enclosure
+ World class performance for $150
- 20 pound driver so make sure you use heavy duty (double layer likely) material to mount it.
