I had one of these toys and it logged about 500 km of cycling and about the same distance running. It is easily adjusted to fit tightly (can be done during running without having to slow down), can be worn over a backpack and you don't feel the extra weight. The power/volume controls are easy to reach and operate on the go. Sound quality and volume is surprisingly good.

I wish it weren't so delicate, though. The volume control buttons broke after a few months. I attempted to repair them, but found they were just made in an unstable way and could break easily if one drops the device, or in my case, repeated shaking as in running. A bit later the cables between the controller and one of the speakers, or the connections somewhere, broke, rendering the device unusable (probably reparable, though I didn't have the time to try).

Now I want to buy something to let me play music while cycling, and I would have tried another product if I knew of one, but I don't, so I'm giving the Sonicwalk it a second chance.

One word about water-proofness - the speakers themselves are water-proof, not the spandex, which means it won't protect your phone or player from anything but a light rain - the player has to be waterproof itself, or you should put it in some kind of protective hull (e. g. a small nylon bag).
