Danelectro DSR-1 Spring King Effects Pedal Review

So first off, this pedal is unique as far as I know because it's the only mass produced spring reverb stomp box on the market. It's sloppy, too bright, and too wet. If you're looking for a subtle, clean spacious reverb full of texture and richness, well, two things: 1.) expect to spend twice as much as this thing costs for a digital box that doesn't suck and 2.) it says "danelectro" on the box, so what do you expect. Danelectro specializes in cheap, over the top, wacky effects that make up for their lo fi quirkiness with buckets of weird charm. This isn't the most flexible reverb. It does two sounds: over the top surf, and twangy old school rock and roll. THose are surprisingly useful sounds though, and you can get a lot of mileage out of this unit. If you want the same old same old canned digital reverb that everybody else is using, the boss and electro harmonix pedals are both great choices and well worth the money. but if you're looking for something that's a little off kilter in a way that makes you smile, then this might be a pedal worth adding to the chain.
