Product Description

The most elegant design solution to the perennial problem of where to place the all-important front speakers in a high-end home theater installation, the motorized CI3-80QT purrs down into position from the ceiling. With a 75 millimeter (3 inch) Uni-Q array flanked by a pair of long-throw bass drivers of the same size, it combines Uni-Q s exceptionally wide dispersion characteristics with fluent and accurate response right across the frequency range. Especially built for flush mounting into ceilings, the CI3-80QT is the latest addition to the KEF Uni-Q custom installation series. The 3-way CI3-80QT combines 100 watt power handling and 87dB sensitivity and consists of a polypropylene cone LF driver with the HF unit mounted between two matched size LF units. The CI3-80QT requires an additional 12 volt power supply. The bezel and grill can be painted to match the interior decor.

KEF CI3-80QT Rectangle Motorized In-Ceiling Architectural Loudspeaker (Single) Review

Well these are quite a unique speaker. First off. Installing them is easy, However, installing them and making them look good is not so easy. You must take your time with these. The cut out is very close to the edge of the speaker. This means any minor mistakes in your cut will show. the clips are very strong and require a great deal of pressure to finally seat them properly. Do not attempt if this is your first time installing in-wall speakers. since they go in a ceiling a level is completely useless. and if they are next to any other ceiling fixture such as lighting or vents. this may cause optical illusions of being crooked even though you measured it a hundred times before making the cut. Measuring above your head is cumbersome and tiring. The results however are well worth the effort.

These speakers sound amazing for the small size. Pair them with a small room sub-woofer and your good to go. The automation is not as complicated as the wiring diagram makes it seem
give the positive and negative leads a 12 volt DC power supply 1 or 2 amps at most. Supply ground to the green wire when you want the device to motorize down. Release the ground on the green wire when you want the device to retract.

All in all highly recommended. I will continue to sell these speakers to my Clients.
